Aalborg OC-TCi

The Alfa Laval Aalborg OC-TCi is a composite boiler for producing steam through combustion and/or waste heat recovery. With its high efficiency and its ability to reclaim thermal energy, it can help reduce environmental impact. Ready for the fuel transition, the OC-TCi can use oils, biofuels and one alternative fuel of your choice. Additionally, it can be configured as an electric hybrid. These options can be implemented directly, or the boiler can be prepared for their installation later.

Self-cleaning composite boiler with multi-fuel and hybrid options

  • Produce 1200–6500 kg/h of steam with the boiler’s oil-fired side and 300–5000 kg/h with its exhaust gas side
  • Recover waste heat from up to three connected sources for a positive impact on carbon footprint
  • Maintain efficiency and save fuel with the boiler’s self-cleaning TCi (Turbo Clean, intelligent) technology
  • Advance decarbonization by configuring for your choice of alternative fuels
  • Take advantage of shore power or surplus electricity on board through hybrid operation

Effectively self-cleaning, the Aalborg OC-TCi is a future-proof choice that lets you transition to LNG, methanol or ammonia whenever the time is right for you. Hybrid and hybrid-ready options add to its flexible configuration.

Application

Typically used to generate steam for HVAC and engine room consumers, the Aalborg OC-TCi boiler can also function as a steam drum for one or more exhaust gas boilers. Additionally, it is approved for boil-off gas (BOG) management on vessels that use LNG as fuel.

Design for our marine boiler

The Aalborg OC-TCi boiler is delivered with a preassembled Aalborg burner built on Alfa Laval's innovative MultiFlame (MF) concept: MF PA or MF SAS. Both boiler and burner are engineered and produced in-house to ensure the highest reliability. The compact design is standardized but customizable, which means easy, time-saving installation.

A fired section with helix tubes provides a large heat transfer area with high efficiency. For waste heat recovery, the boiler has 1–3 exhaust gas sections with smoke tubes, allowing it to utilize exhaust gas heat from up to three engines.

Aalborg MF PA burner

The Aalborg MF PA is a side-fired, pressure-atomizing burner that supports conventional fuels and gas fuels like LNG.
